What is a birth center?

A birth center is a healthcare facility for low risk women to give birth in a comfortable, homelike environment. Women are able to walk around during labor, use our relaxing jacuzzi whirlpool tubs, manage labor pain with position changes in one of our yoga swings, use aromatherapy, and/or utilize our peanut ball to help encourage birth.

Birth centers are equipped with emergency equipment including adult and neonatal resuscitation supplies, postpartum hemorrhage medications, and other supplies to manage emergencies that may arise during labor and birth. Our birth center has agreements with William Newton Hospital, Cowley County EMS, obstetricians and pediatricians should the need for more complex care arise.
